There are different ways that people face lack of self confidence, some people have just a strong fear of something and they don’t know what to do about it. But other people have such a low self esteem that they don’t feel capable of doing anything by themselves, they feel the need of someone else to do it for them.
The world you live in is obviously going to be a major contributor to your level of confidence. Of course in our modern fast paced world there are many factors involved in our confidence levels.
Anyone who tells you that they are ‘their own person’ is not being strictly true. The truth is that we react to the world around us according to the belief we have in ourselves. This self belief comes through the gaining of knowledge.
This knowledge we call, Mindfulness: the art of being present in the moment without passing judgement on the experience. While the concept is simple, implementing it is challenging and requires self discipline. Focus your attention on the moment you are experiencing. Avoid passing judgment or applying any subjective thoughts and feelings.
Quite often being more confident involves reappraising an unproductive thought. Is it possible to put an alternative interpretation in the place of an irrational judgement? Suppose someone treats is nice to you .
You may be tempted to think that that person is shifty or is trying to fool you because you are unlovable. Through taking a holistic approach, it is possible to curb your physical and mental reactions.
Negative thoughts breed negative behaviours. If you are in the habit of thinking cynically about everything in the world then you will inevitably perform cynical behaviours.
The way to work out the type of person you are is to think about what feelings come to mind when you face certain situations. Are you in the habit of looking at impossible challenges rather than seeing opportunities?
Do you look at meeting new people with anxiety and trepidation instead of pleasure and confidence? When you answer these types of questions you are peering deep into your very being. Your confidence issues are linked to these very important questions.
Holism is the art of self-appraisal. When we are using the mind to heal the body, we are actually using the body to heal the mind too. To improve self- confidence, we must at first tackle the overwhelming urges we encounter to act in a negative way.
Remember, when it comes to self-appraisal, all of our emotional processes, our attitudes and values , our beliefs and motivations are interconnected. A holistic approach to ourselves improves our being as a whole.
Personal development is the key to building meaningful and satisfying relationships. By looking at the parts you will begin to understand the whole. By making a commitment now to who you are and where you want to be your life can improve in many different ways.
Through knowing yourself you understand yourself. Once you understand yourself you can take action to correct the defects that you have detected. It is like going on a voyage of self discovery. Once you have returned from the voyage you are wiser and more confident in yourself and who you are. The great thing about self-awareness is that it is great for revealing what you are capable of.
Few people truly understand the importance of self –awareness. Once you have developed it to a high level you can plan the way you tackle your goals more effectively. Self-awareness is about mastering growth and development.
It gives you the ability to master your environment to the best of your ability.
Once you have increased your level of self-awareness, it is time to decide what you are going to be:
Are you your own coach or your own worst enemy? It is far easier to criticise than to make something which is why the inner critic tends to be the most prevalent in ordinary people. Extraordinary people have that little bit extra. Extraordinary people have a finely tuned inner coach.
