Being truly independent is one of the greatest aspirations a person can have. When we are full of self-confidence, the world is a brighter place. If you are lacking in independence, think of the following tips as a quick start guide for the future.
Increasing your happiness and increasing your confidence should be thought of as the same thing. Confidence is not just about being an extrovert in front of people, it runs much deeper than that.
Confidence also means how you feel about your own abilities to achieve the things you desire. Self confidence leads to a relaxed state of mind, which in turn leads to a happier state of mind. Rather than being critical of yourself, a happier state of mind encourages you to be creative and constructive.
Independence entails being comfortable with who you are and knowing what is required to be the person you want to be.For instance, to be any sort of leader you must be willing to step up to the plate. You must possess the self confidence and swagger that will enable you to make the big decisions. In essence you must inspire others to have confidence in you.
Being independent means knowing the right times to take the initiative on life.
There are several bad character traits that will prevent a successful outcome to initiative taking from happening.
One of the first things you need to eliminate is any element of procrastination from your character. If you are the sort of person who says ‘ it can wait till next week ‘ frequently, then this applies to you in particular. The reason why this is so important is that your mind set directly effects your behaviour and daily habits. Even being lazy towards somewhat trivial things in a business can have a damaging impact on your overall attitude.
In order to fully eliminate this unhelpful character trait consider setting yourself daily goals. Every day look for - and then take action- on at least one thing that needs to be done. You need to get your mind used to thinking in a way that encourages initiative. The more you do that then the more you will turn initiative taking in to a routine behaviour
True independence is the art of being self reliant when the odds are stacked against you. Being successful means possessing the ability to adjust to ones environment. Even the best laid plans can be ruined by a single random event.
Should you find yourself the unfortunate victim of such an event, then be ready to adapt accordingly. Stay relaxed and focused at all times. Do not give in to anxiety or fear. Approach any setback with the mentality of the student. Treat each obstacle as a challenge to be overcome. You will learn how to cope with hardship, and grow into a more rounded, focused individual.
Whether you are a flash harry or a shrinking violet, you can always do with a good dose of confidence. One of the main inhibitors to stop someone being fully independent is a low level of self esteem. This creates pressure on them to be the’ perfect’ person before they feel they have the right to be fully independent. The image one has of one’s self can make or break their confidence.
In western societies the media is full of pictures of 'ideal bodies'. The 'perfect' male is handsome, tall and muscular and their 'perfect' female equivalent is beautiful, firm and seemingly impossibly thin - often with disproportionately large breasts.
These 'perfect' people are seen to have happiness, wealth and partners. The subliminal message is 'be like this and you can have these things too'. This is what creates the pressure in most people - aspiring to these idealised body images. We want these things and we think this is the way to get them. This pressure affects a lot of men and women and, increasingly, boys and girls.
It helps to put the whole issue into perspective, remembering you're not alone. The vast majority of people don't have (and won't ever have) these perfect bodies either, but what does that really mean? The truth is that it doesn't actually mean you can't have the positive things we associate with these images. Think about that before you put yourself down for looking a particular way.
